Ontario Aboriginal Housing Services (OAHS)

The aim of Ontario Aboriginal Housing Support Services Corporation is to provide affordable and adequate housing services to urban and rural Aboriginal people in Ontario requiring assistance adequate to their needs at a cost within their means.

 

Community Care Access Centre (CCAC)

A legislated central service funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health to help seniors and others to find the appropriate placements in long-term care facilities and/or to access available home support service.

 

Old East Village

  Convert-To-Rent (CTR)/Rehabilitation Program

This program offers financial assistance to property owners with vacant or unused commercial space to help pay for construction of self-contained rental units to provide affordable housing to low income households.

 

Fanshawe College Referral Services

The Housing Office compiles a list of available student accommodation in the private market that is made available through the Fanshawe Student Services Department off Campus.

 

Habitat for Humanity

A non-profit, non-governmental organization that builds new homes for low income families.

Information London

  Tel. 519-432-2211 
There is no office location for Information London.  It is owned and operated by the Health Care Services.  Information and referral services can be found on their website

 

London Community Resource Centre (LCRC)

A non-profit community resource centre provides support services to individuals, with a particular focus on employment, housing and referral to other community agencies and help in the organizational development of voluntary community groups and emerging non-profits.

London Housing Registry (LHR)

A non-profit housing service that assists people on a low or limited income finds affordable private market rental accommodations. The registry recruits landlords/local property management companies on an on-going basis in order to link appropriate clients to available apartments, rooming houses and sharing arrangement in the City of London. 

 

Ontario March of Dimes

A charitable organization that assists individuals with physical disabilities to achieve a meaningful and dignified life.  The Ontario March of Dimes help people who have a disability late in life due to multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, stroke, or persons who have post-polio syndrome. 

 

Centre of Hope
Salvation Army

  Rent Bank Services

As of January 3, 2006 The Salvation Army, Centre of Hope, administers the Rent Bank program. This program is a one-time interest free loan available to qualified applicants to sustain their tenancies and avoid eviction. All interest-free loans are paid back through a payment plan arranged at the time of application. For more information, regarding criteria and the application process contact the Centre of Hope.   THAW (The Heat And Warmth Program)

As of January 3, 2006 The Salvation Army, Centre of Hope, administers the THAW program. This program provides emergency financial relief to cover the cost of utility bills during the winter months. To apply for this program please click on the Centre of Hope Salvation Army link.

 

University of Western Ontario (UWO) Referral Services   Tel.519- 661-3550
Listings of current available student accommodation in the private market may be viewed in the Off-Campus Housing Office from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., seven days a week.  Locations are listed in Room 109 in the Elgin Hall. 

 

Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation Assistance Programs (CMHC)   Toll Free:1-800-704-6488
The Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Program (RRAP) offers forgivable or repayable loans to upgrade low-income housing to livable standards.  Other programs are available to help low-income and older adults, people with disabilities and native peoples live in decent, affordable housing.
